    Az idei első három hétvégéhez hasonlóan a címvédő és háromszoros világbajnok Max Verstappen, a Red Bull versenyzője volt a leggyorsabb a Forma-1-es Japán Nagydíj szombaton rendezett időmérő edzésén is, így a vasárnapi futamot ő kezdheti majd meg az élről.

    A 26 éves holland pilóta az idény eddigi négy állomásán kivétel nélkül pole pozícióban volt, pályafutása során pedig ez már a 36. rajtelsősége. Az előző szezon utolsó viadalát is beleszámítva Verstappen egymás után ötödször rajtolhat az első helyről, ilyen sorozata korábban egyszer, a tavalyi monacói és brit futam közötti időszakban volt.


    Verstappen mellől csapattársa, a mexikói Sergio Pérez startolhat majd Szuzukában, míg a harmadik rajtkockából Lando Norris, a McLaren brit versenyzője vághat neki a futamnak.


    A 23. születésnapját éppen szombaton ünneplő Oscar Piastri a hatodik startpozíciót szerezte meg az időmérőn.
